PW900 (PW901A, PW901C & PW980A) APU is manufactured by Pratt & Whitney Canada and installed on Boeing manufactured 747-400 & 747-8 aircraft which were produced from 1988 to present (747-8 freighter aircraft are still in production) and Airbus manufactured A380-800 aircraft which were produced from 2005 to 2021. APUs (auxiliary power units) are used to power aircraft while main engines are not running and to start main engines.
